Residential Care

A “Person Centred” Approach

At The Lawns we understand that good quality care comes in many forms. Comfort, security and dignity to name but a few. However we strive to take our care further and create an atmosphere and environment that make us more like a family.

Our staff, for example, do not wear nurses uniforms. Instead they dress in smart casual clothes to create a more home like experience rather than a clinical one. Our staff share meal times, coffee breaks and general social activities with our residents thus creating an ethos where we live and work as one.

A full and comprehensive plan of care is designed and tailored to each individual resident. We encourage all our residents to be actively involved in their own plan of care including all your likes and dislikes and taking into account your own life history.

Dementia Care

Leading the way

Here at The Lawns, not only do we have staff that are specifically trained in Dementia care, but we have also created a very special and unique environment for those residents with a Dementia.

The home features an indoor parade of “lookalike” traditional shop fronts including a Grocers, a Barbers, a Haberdashery, Bakery and Pawnbroker plus a Railway ticket office and even a Post office with a working post box. Each are crammed full of memorabilia from yester-year.

All corridors and communal areas are completely “de-institutionalised” and are themed in different styles. For example a nature forest walk with woodland murals and our cosy Butterflies Cafe for relaxing with family and friends. There’s even a Pub and a Police Station!

Outside each room each resident has their own personal “memory box” containing pictures or items from their own life and interests. This helps them to recognise their own living space and creates a personal feel rather than just a room number.

To recognise our outstanding work towards achieving quality person centred care we have, for the last three years, been recognised by Worcestershire County Council as one of the leading homes in Worcestershire in the area of Dementia care. As a result we have received a number of grants towards home improvements and staff training.

A visit to explore and experience all of our innovative and interesting features is highly recommended.

Respite Care

Taking A Break

Our respite care services offer varied, stimulating activities, companionship and care within a homely environment.

This helps to relieve the loneliness and isolation that can come with living alone whilst allowing individuals to retain their independence.

Our services are also suitable for those who may live with relatives, enabling family carers to take a break from day to day caring with the peace of mind that their relative is being cared for in a safe and secure environment.
